Remembering Gary Lydon

Four Rivers is shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of acclaimed Irish actor Gary Lydon.
We recently had the privilege of working with Gary as part of our Billy Roche season where he played the role of Detective Swan in “A Handful of Stars” – the play in which he performed the role of Jimmy Brady in the original production in 1988 and marked his London debut.
Gary grew up in Wexford and began his acting career with Wexford Theatre Co-op established and run by Michael and Irene Way. Over the years he built a distinguished and extensive career across theatre and film, earning widespread acclaim for his work.
He was especially noted for his ability to embody complex characters with depth, intensity, nuance and versatility.
His death is a significant loss to the arts.
Our heartfelt sympathy goes to his children and family, friends and all who knew him.
