A Handful of Stars to be staged by Four Rivers
Playwright Billy Roche is pictured last week beside an old fashioned stove, a scene which will be familiar to anybody lucky enough to have seen the first play in his Wexford Trilogy, A Handful of Stars, memorably described as Hamlet with a pool cue.
The play about the exploits of Jimmy Brady is now 35 years old and is being staged this June by Four Rivers: last week artistic director Ben Barnes and Billy met up with director Conall Morrison and designer Liam Doona to discuss Four Rivers’ plans later this year.
You can see the production at Wexford Arts Centre, celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2024, and the Pavilion, Dun Laoghaire. Dates are as follows:
Wexford Arts Centre – June 8|9|11|12|13|14|15|16
Pavilion, Dun Laoghaire – June 18|19|20|21|22.
