Andrew Bennett – a masterful storyteller

The intensity of passion actor Andrew Bennett brings to his reading of Claire Keegan’s Small Things Like These takes the listener directly to the heart of this simple yet unforgettable story of hope and heroism. Even in rehearsal, his telling of the story acts as a magnetic focus to all within range. As he reads, musician Eleanor McEvoy’s fingers coax barely-there sounds on the piano, echoing the story being told. The organic symbiosis between the two puts flesh on the bones of the characters and adds depth of feeling and colour to this harrowing story set in a Co. Wexford town in the 1980s. The production is directed by former Artistic Director of the Abbey Theatre, Ben Barnes.
